A Mobile solution has three main components:
  1. Business Processes it will Support
  2. Devices - Blackberry, PDA, Smart Phone etc
  3. Mobile Service - connecting the devices to The Business

The design of the solution takes into account the cost of devices plus services against the productivity inrease. The single most common mistake in this field is to grab sophisticated expensive devices and start playing on line before the business case is clear. This leads to lengthy expensive projects and disputes over functionality.

The second area of contention is Telecoms, depending on how and where you implement security needs, Telecom configuration can be quick and easy or long and painful.

Smart early moves would be to separate management needs from front line needs, the eventual solution should should suport both but on different devices. Decide on a security policy that doesn't conflict with the Telco. Look at Global networks from day one if you have more than one country in operation. Do not assume the Telco will act as a single global entity, legal requirements in each country may prevent them from doing that. 		Direction
